Sparklers and Lake Views: A Wedding at Omori Lodge

Sparklers and Lake Views at Omori Lodge
Amy and Dean were married at Omori Lodge on the shores of Lake Taupo, in front of around 120 family and friends. It's a lakeside setting that gave the whole day a relaxed, open air feel, from the ceremony right through to sparklers under the stars. Dean's prep started from half past twelve and Amy's not long after, with the two exchanging letters without seeing each other around two, a quiet moment before the afternoon opened up to guests. Guests arrived from half past two and settled in ahead of the three o'clock vows, water on one side, hills on the other, and enough room that a guest list of well over a hundred never felt crowded.
Keeping the Big Guest List Candid
With a guest list that size, a lot of couples end up spending their afternoon herding people for photos. Amy and Dean did the opposite: rather than pulling everyone into a long list of formal group shots, guests mingled over grazing platters back at the ceremony site while the wedding party moved through the grounds for portraits. Omori Lodge's lakeside setting, timber lodge buildings and open lawns caught the light beautifully as the afternoon wore on. Amy and Dean arrived into their reception at half past five, and the evening moved through dinner, speeches, cake and dessert before the first dance kicked things into gear around half seven, the party carrying on until sparklers were lit outside under the dark.
Planning a Lake Taupo Wedding at Omori Lodge
Omori Lodge is a genuinely good option for couples wanting a Lake Taupo wedding with a larger guest list, the grounds handle a big crowd comfortably and the lake does a lot of the work for photos. Keep the formal photo list short, let your photographer capture the candid moments instead, and build in time at the end of the night for something outdoors while the light's gone. If you're considering a Lake Taupo wedding photographer for your own day, we'd love to hear from you.
