A Sikh Wedding Morning in Papatoetoe
Jaspreet and Jag were married at the Gurdwara Sri Dashmesh Darbar in Papatoetoe, Auckland, on a December Saturday morning, bringing together Indian and Malaysian Sikh traditions for a ceremony surrounded by around 100 family and friends. With prep starting well before dawn on both sides, the morning moved through bridal and groom preparation before everyone gathered for the ceremony itself.
A Morning Guided by Tradition
A Gurdwara wedding has its own rhythm, guided by tradition rather than a typical reception day timeline, and Jaspreet and Jag's morning captured exactly that. From the quiet focus of the ceremony through to the joy of group photos with family afterward, the whole morning had a real sense of occasion. Photographing a Sikh wedding ceremony is always a privilege, the colour, the ritual, and the sheer warmth of the extended family gathered together make for some of the most heartfelt images we get to capture all year, and Jaspreet and Jag's day was no exception, full of genuine emotion from start to finish.
