A Full Day at Kinloch, Taupo: Brittany and Hayden's Wedding
Updated: Aug 29
Building a Wedding Day Around a Lake Sunset
Brittany and Hayden were married on a January afternoon at a private property in Kinloch, Taupo, with Lake Taupo close enough that a sunset shoot by the water was part of the plan from the very start. Coverage began just after midday with getting ready and ran through past nine that night, so nothing from the first look to the last dance went undocumented. Vows were exchanged at half past two, followed by group photos across ten different combinations of family and friends before the couple slipped away for a bridal location shoot while guests mingled on the lawn.
Six Speeches and a Trip to the Water
The evening moved through a grand entrance, six speeches spread across the night rather than stacked all at once, dinner and cake cutting, a structure that kept things feeling paced rather than rushed. Just before dusk, the group made the short drive down to the lake for sunset photos, timed deliberately for the light Taupo is known for, before heading back for the first dance and the rest of the night. It's a reminder of why so many couples choose the Taupo region for their wedding photography, few places in New Zealand offer that kind of water and light in a single frame.
Planning a Kinloch or Lake Taupo Wedding
If you're planning a wedding at Kinloch or elsewhere around Lake Taupo, Brittany and Hayden's day shows how well a longer, well-planned timeline can work, plenty of room for photos, speeches and games, with the sunset kept as the evening's centrepiece. If you're after a Taupo wedding photographer who'll build your day around moments like that, we'd love to hear from you.
