A Backyard Wedding in Glendowie

A Wedding in the Family Garden
Kitty and Zac were married in the garden of a family home in Glendowie, with 75 to 100 guests joining them for a full April day that ran from early afternoon right through to the last dance. There's something wonderful about a backyard wedding, familiar surroundings, a personal touch to every corner, and none of the constraints of a commercial venue.
Autumn Light in a Familiar Garden
The afternoon moved through prep, a first look, and portraits before guests arrived for nibbles and drinks ahead of the ceremony. With autumn light softening as the day went on, the garden setting gave every part of the celebration, from the ceremony itself through to speeches and dinner, a warm, relaxed feel. As evening set in, the celebration shifted into sunset photos, the first dance, and dancing that carried the night through to its close, a great reminder that you don't need a grand venue to have a truly memorable day, just the right people and a bit of thoughtful planning.
Planning a Backyard Wedding of Your Own?
If you're considering a backyard or family home wedding of your own, Kitty and Zac's day is a lovely example of how personal and joyful it can be. If you're planning an Auckland home wedding, we'd love to hear from you.
