We've shot enough of these now to know that a good marquee company does more than supply a roof, they help you actually picture the day before it happens. Utterly Marquee Hire is a Warkworth based outfit that's built its whole business around exactly that kind of planning support, and given how often we're photographing weddings across Auckland and Northland, it felt like time we wrote them up properly.

Started After Their Own Wedding

Utterly Marquee + Event Hire was set up in November 2019 by Kelly and Andrew, a couple who planned their own wedding on Waiheke Island back in 2015 and came away frustrated by how many separate suppliers they'd had to juggle just to get a marquee, furniture and styling sorted. Kelly brings a marketing background to the business, Andrew is a carpenter with over a decade of hands-on experience, and between them they've built the company as a genuine one-stop shop rather than just a tent hire firm. We always like hearing that a supplier's whole reason for existing is a problem they personally ran into at their own wedding, it tends to show in the small details.

From a 6x6m to a 10x40m

Utterly's marquee range covers a lot of ground. On the elegant end there are clear roof and white roof clipframe marquees, and on the more classic end there are timeless peg and pole marquees like the one pictured below, pitched here beside a pond with reeds in the foreground, which is the kind of setting that photographs beautifully in soft morning light. Sizes run from a 6x6m for something genuinely small right up to a 10x40m structure for a large-scale event, so whether you're planning an intimate backyard ceremony or a few hundred guests on a paddock, there's a configuration that fits. Beyond the marquees themselves they also stock furniture, tableware, flooring and lighting, and take on bespoke and custom-built pieces for couples who want something a bit different.

Based on Morrison Drive in Warkworth, Utterly serves Auckland and Northland, including the outer suburbs that some Auckland-based hire companies don't always bother travelling to. Their showroom is by appointment only, which is worth knowing if you want to see fabric and furniture finishes in person before you commit rather than working purely from photos online.

A clipframe marquee starts from around NZ $750, a clear roof marquee starts from around NZ $2,500, and they run a 100 person package deal from around NZ $5,500 that bundles the marquee with the other essentials.
