Rose Tinted Flowers: The Ponsonby Studio That Started in a Garden Shed
Updated: Aug 29
Vendor Spotlight: Florists
We love a good origin story, and Rose Tinted Flowers has one of our favourites in the Auckland wedding scene. What started as founder Rosie arranging flowers out of a garden shed has grown into a proper studio at Ponsonby Central, and the bouquets we see coming out of that studio these days are some of the most romantic, texture-rich arrangements we get to photograph.

Why We Recommend Them
Rose Tinted Flowers was founded by Rosie back in 2015, and the studio has since moved from that original garden shed through a pop-up shop and into its current home at Ponsonby Central. What we appreciate as photographers is the studio's whimsical yet contemporary style. It works just as well for a grand, lavish reception as it does for a small and intimate elopement, which means the flowers always feel suited to the couple rather than stamped from a template.
The team also partners directly with local flower growers, which means the blooms we see turning up on wedding days often include varieties you simply will not find through a standard florist. That kind of texture and unexpected colour is exactly what makes for interesting bouquet and detail photography.
What They Offer
Rose Tinted Flowers covers the full range of wedding florals, including bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, buttonholes, table arrangements and larger installations, plus same-day delivery and setup on the day itself. They also run a small a la carte range with a few of their prices published directly on their website, which is a nice bit of transparency in an industry where custom quoting is the norm. As a guide, their a la carte bridal bouquet is listed from around $225 and a bridesmaid bouquet from around $190, though full wedding packages are quoted individually based on your brief, guest count and season. A 20 percent deposit, which is non-refundable, secures your date.
The studio also leans heavily into sustainability, having phased out plastic bags for biodegradable alternatives and moved away from floral foam, alongside their preference for seasonal, locally grown stems.

The Experience
What stands out to us on the day is how considered these bouquets are up close. The layering of texture, from the ruffled peony-style roses down to smaller filler blooms, gives us so much to work with for macro detail shots, which couples love seeing in their final gallery alongside the bigger portrait and ceremony images.
Rose Tinted Flowers also offers to sit down with couples over a coffee to talk through their wedding vision before anything is quoted, which is a nice, low-pressure way to start the planning process.
Our Tips
Book early if you have your heart set on a particular seasonal flower, since availability shifts throughout the year and the studio can only work with what is actually in season in New Zealand. If you are working with us for photography too, tell us ahead of time if you are planning any dried floral elements, like a flower crown or dried bouquet accents, since we love finding ways to feature those small details in the getting-ready shots.
