Otti & Olli: The Titirangi Patissier Turning Wedding Cakes and Croquembouche Into Works of Art

Vendor Spotlight: Cakes

We always love finding a vendor whose personal story is as special as what they make, and Otti & Olli is exactly that kind of find. Run by patissier Andrew Price and his wife Susan out of Titirangi, this is a genuinely small, hands-on operation with a founder story worth sharing.

Why We Recommend Them

Andrew was born profoundly deaf, as was his twin brother, who is also a chef, and he has never let that slow down his career. A teacher's suggestion to travel and seek inspiration led him to discover his love of pâtisserie while overseas, and he went on to work at several five star hotels in New Zealand and abroad before starting Otti & Olli with Susan. That background shows in the precision and artistry of the cakes and treats that come out of their kitchen.

What we particularly love is that Otti & Olli does not just do traditional tiered wedding cakes. They are known for their croquembouche, the classic French dessert of choux pastry profiteroles stacked into a cone and drizzled with caramel, which makes a stunning and slightly unexpected centrepiece for a reception dessert table.

What They Offer

Custom wedding cakes from Otti & Olli can be single layer or multi tiered, decorated with your choice of macarons, chocolates, fresh flowers or other handcrafted sweet treats, with cake flavours including chocolate mud, banana, carrot, red velvet and lemon vanilla. Their croquembouche speciality comes dipped in white or dark chocolate and can be finished in pastel, pink, bright or multi coloured tones, often with fresh flowers tucked between the profiteroles for a wedding-ready finish. They also offer dessert platters, cheesecakes, cookie cakes and other sweet treats as an alternative or addition to a traditional cake.

Pricing is not published for custom wedding orders and is quoted based on your design, size and flavour choices, so we would recommend getting in touch directly for a current quote. Cakes and croquembouche are handcrafted in Auckland, with delivery available Auckland wide or collection from their Titirangi premises by arrangement.

The Experience

Couples who have worked with Otti & Olli consistently mention how far Andrew and Susan go beyond what was expected, and it shows in the finished product. One couple told us their venue staff said they had never seen a wedding dessert disappear as quickly as their croquembouche did. That kind of detail, something guests genuinely want to eat rather than just look at, is exactly what we love seeing on a reception table.

For photography, a croquembouche gives us a completely different shape and texture to work with compared to a standard tiered cake, and the fresh floral accents tie it back beautifully into the rest of a couple's wedding florals.

Our Tips

If you are torn between a traditional cake and something different, ask Otti & Olli about a croquembouche. It photographs beautifully and gives guests a fun talking point. Whatever you choose, order with plenty of notice, since this is a small, hands-on operation and their weekend market schedule and made-to-order workload can fill up. If you are working with us for photography as well, let us know the dessert table setup in advance so we can plan the right angle for it.
