Blush: The Newton Florist With Twenty Years of Bold, Editorial-Style Wedding Flowers
Updated: Aug 29
Vendor Spotlight: Florists
Some florists play it safe with classic white and green arrangements, and there is nothing wrong with that. But when a couple comes to us wanting something a little more editorial, a little bolder in colour and shape, Blush is one of the first names we mention. We have photographed enough of their work at Auckland weddings now to know exactly what they bring to a day, so we wanted to put together a proper introduction to them.

Why We Recommend Them
Blush has been part of the Auckland floral scene for more than twenty years, and the studio is led by creative director Kelly, known to her team and clients simply as KK. Under her direction, Blush has built a reputation as something of an industry influence in New Zealand floristry, known for pushing past the expected and leaning into what the team calls the art of presentation. That shows up in the work as texture-heavy, colour-confident arrangements that feel more like a fashion editorial than a standard bridal bouquet.
From a photography standpoint, that boldness is a gift. Flowers with strong colour contrast and varied form give us so much more to play with in both close-up detail shots and wider portraits, especially in the kind of soft, directional light we look for on a wedding day.
What They Offer
Blush covers the full scope of wedding florals, from bridal bouquets through to large-scale installations strung from the rafters of a venue. They also offer custom props and accessories designed in-house, which you will not find at other studios, along with full event styling and design for couples who want every visual element of the day considered as one cohesive concept. Their process runs in stages: an initial enquiry, a design and quoting form once your date is confirmed, a tailored concept and cost proposal, and finally a deposit to lock in your booking.
Pricing is not published on their website, and quotes are built around your specific brief rather than a fixed package, which is standard practice for a studio doing this level of custom design work. Blush notes that a full, itemised quote typically takes ten to fifteen working days to put together once they have your design form, so it's worth reaching out well ahead of your wedding date. As always, we would recommend contacting them directly for current pricing before finalising your budget.

The Experience
Blush has built what their team affectionately calls a cult-like following among the Auckland wedding crowd, and having shot alongside them, we understand why. There is a confidence to how their arrangements are built and installed on site, and a real eye for how everything will look through a camera lens rather than just in person. That attention to the photographable moment makes a genuine difference to the final gallery we hand back to a couple.
The team, who call themselves the Blushies, work out of the studio's Newton base and take on everything from intimate elopements to large-scale styled weddings and events.
Our Tips
If your wedding vision leans toward something more directional in colour or shape, come to Blush with reference images and be upfront about it. Their design process rewards a clear brief. And if you are booking us for photography as well, let us know what kind of floral installations or arch structures are planned, since we like to walk the ceremony space in advance and think through how to frame them properly.
